Glossary: Zoom in, zoom out

A change in the focal length of the lens during a shot. A change toward the telephoto range enlarges the image and flattens its planes together, giving an impression of magnifying the scene’s space (zoom in), while a shift toward the wide-angle range does the opposite (zoom out).
