Glossary: Tinting and Toning
Tinting is accomplished by dipping already developed film into dye. The darker areas remain black and gray, while the lighter areas pick up the color.
Toning is accomplished by adding dye during developing. The dark areas pick up the color, while the lighter areas remain white or only faintly colored.
