Glossary: Match on action
A continuity cut that splices two different views of the same action together at the same moment in the movement, making it seem to continue uninterrupted. In the first example, notice that the cut between shots creates a slight continuity error: in the first shot, Coconut Sid is wiping his face with his left arm, but in the second shot, he is wiping his face with his right arm. In the second example, notice that the transition from shot to shot is also smoothed over by keeping Lynn in approximately the same location on the screen (just left of center).
