This page contains links to various film reviews that I have written for The Balcony film discussion list and for other occasions. 
Titles are organized alphabetically, generally using the same principles as Leonard Maltin's Movie & Video Guide:

• Articles (a, an, the) are omitted. 
• Foreign films are usually by their English titles (the original title is sometimes cross-linked)
• Numbers and abbreviations (Mr., Mrs., etc.) are listed as they are presented in the official title of the film. 
• I've given the films letter grades, based on the following standards:  
  • A    High degrees of artistic originality, technical quality, emotional power; challenging, enlightning
  • B    A very worthwhile film that falls somewhat short of its overall potentional, marked by strong directing, writing, editing, cinematography, acting
  • C    A run-of-the-mill film that can be an enjoyable diversion but with qualities that are no better than average or that have been done better elsewhere
  • D    A disappointment that wastes technical or acting talent
  • F    A crushingly bad film that is not even enjoyable as a waste of time or a guilty pleasure

(These grades are liable to differ wildly depending on their context--historical importance, genre, place in a director's overall work, etc.  My final criteria are--like most critics'--mostly subjective.)
