Minnesota Film Arts.  Formed by the merger of the University of Minnesota Film Society and the Oak Street Cinema near the East Bank campus.  Alternative, foreign and independent films are shown at the Oak Street Cinema and the Bell Auditorium on the U of M campus.  Hosts the annual Minneapolis-St. Paul Film Festival.

Landmark Theaters.  This national chain specializes in mainstream "art" films, foreign and indepedent films.  Operates the Landmark Edina Cinema and the Uptown and Lagoon Theaters in the Minneapolis Uptown area.

Walker Art Center.  One of the great modern/contemporary art museums in the country.  The Walker often showcases an array of films and conducts the annual "Regis Dialogues" with noted filmmakers.  This fall, the Walker is showcasing a series of Chinese martial arts films, along with films from Taiwan, Angola and Portugal.

TELEVISION

Turner Classics Movies (TCM).  This cable channel features classic (and some not-so-classic but interesting) films, including a weekly feature on their late-night "Silent Sundays" series.  This fall, they are featuring classic foreign films from the former premiere distributor of foreign movies, Janus Films.
