8. General Education Competencies for English 114: Introduction to Film

This course can count as one of the two courses needed to satisfy Category 6: Humanities and the Arts in the current General Education program.  Within the official MSU General Education competencies, students who take this course should be able to:

a) demonstrate awareness of the scope and variety of works in the arts and humanities;
b) understand those works as expressions of individual and human values within an historical and social context;
c) respond critically to works in the arts and humanities;
d) [does not apply since this is not a studio course];
e) articulate an informed personal reaction to works in the arts and humanities.
