Rotten Tomatoes. Want
to know the critical consensus on a current film? This site gives
summaries gives summaries of reviews by print and online critics and rates the
films as "Fresh" or "Rotten" on its "Tomatometer." Also includes links to
the entire review of almost each critic. (Of course, your mileage may
vary!)

ORGANIZATIONS DEDICATED TO FILM AWARDS, EDUCATION AND PRESERVATION
The Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences. Want
to find out more about past Oscar nominees and winners? This site has the
information you want. Also links to other movie sites.

American Film Institute. This non-profit
organization is dedicated to film education, preservation and celebration.
Activities include the annual AFI Life Achievement Award, one of the highest
honors that a person in film (usually an actor or director) can receive.
The Institute also has been running an annual "100 Best" series, compiling a
list of films that exemplify a particular theme (Best Score, Most Inspiring
Film, etc.). Its film preservation information page is especially worth
noting.

Library of Congress National Film Preservation Board.
This group of professionals in the film community, scholars and critics
advises the Librarian of Congress on films for the library's collection and its
National Film Registry of historically and artistically important films that
should be preserved. The web site has some film clips available as well as
links to many other archives, some of which also have films and film clips
available for online viewing.

Cinema Treasures: Organization dedicated to saving and
restoring movie theaters. There's a nice database of images of old
theaters, some now gone and some still here.
